Sara Ellen Woodruff

Born in Mount Pleasant, MI, I knew I wanted to be an artist from a young age. I began taking drawing seriously at the age of 14 and since then I've experimented with a wide variety of media including painting, collage, stained glass, mosaic and wood burning. After graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in illustration, I spent years working at several different jobs that never satisfied, all the while trying to find a way to use my degree in art to make a living. One year a friend suggested I start painting windows for local businesses at Christmastime. I made up some fliers, passed them around, and started getting clients. Each time I posted photos of my work online, I'd get more and more new clients. Soon people began asking for mural paintings as well, and my business grew from there. Now I am finally living my dream of supporting myself fully with my art. It has been a long journey and continues to be a lot of hard work, but I am incredibly grateful to be doing what I enjoy most and hope to continue for many years to come.
